Privacy policy
RareMediumWell.com is a website where visitors share core temperatures, rest times and tips for meat and fish. This policy explains what data we process and why.
What data do we process?
If you create an account
- Email address — to let you log in and to recover your account. We do not use it for newsletters or advertising.
- Display name — visible to other visitors alongside the temperatures and tips you post, so do not choose a name you would rather keep private.
- Password — stored only in encrypted form (bcrypt). We cannot read or recover your password.
What you post on the site
- Temperatures, rest times and tips you submit are public and shown with your display name.
- Votes you cast are stored against your account so you cannot vote twice on the same item. Other visitors only see the total, never who voted for what.
Automatically
Our hosting provider Strato records standard information in server logs, such as your IP address, the time and the page requested. This is necessary for the security and technical operation of the site.
Cookies
| Cookie | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| PHPSESSID | Remembers that you are logged in. Without it you cannot log in, vote or post. | Until you close your browser |
| lang | Remembers whether you want the site in Dutch or English. | 1 year |
These two cookies are necessary for the site to function and are placed without consent, as the law permits.
Advertising cookies
This site carries advertising from Google AdSense. Your consent for advertising cookies is requested through Google's consent message. That message is not part of our site: it is a Google-certified consent management platform, which Google requires for visitors from the European Economic Area.
As long as you have not given consent in that message, Google places no advertising cookies and you will not see ads tailored to your interests. If you do give consent, Google may place cookies to tailor ads to your interests and to measure how often an ad was seen.
Google's advertising code is loaded on every page, including before you make a choice: that is necessary in order to show you the consent message at all. Google sees your IP address in the process. Google acts as an independent controller for all of this; what they do is described in Google's privacy policy.
You can change your choice at any time through the Change cookie preferences link at the bottom of every page. That link only appears if Google shows you the consent message.
Who do we share data with?
We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties for their own purposes. We use:
- Strato — our hosting provider, which runs the site and the database.
- Google AdSense — for advertising, only if you have consented.
How long do we keep data?
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete it, we remove your account and your email address. Temperatures and tips you posted may remain without your name, because other visitors have voted on them and the information has become part of the site — say so in your request if you would prefer otherwise.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, and to object to processing. Write to privacy@raremediumwell.com and we will respond within four weeks.
If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can complain to your national data protection authority — in the Netherlands, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Security
Passwords are stored in encrypted form only (bcrypt) and the database is not directly reachable from the internet. Nobody can guarantee complete security, but we take reasonable measures.
